Wild Horses - Nevada

Being in the company of horses is always a calming presence, but there’s something surreal about the wild ones. On this day at a ranch in the northern Nevada desert we spotted some wild horses off in the distance as the cowboys and cowgirls saddled their own horses for an early morning gather. They were far enough away to feel like ants, but there was no mistaking them for anything else. The group stood around chatting for a while, then out of nowhere, those same 5 wild horses were standing just 10 feet away from us, curious. We all stopped and stared at their beauty, grateful for their visit. Then one of the cowboys mounted his horse and they were gone, galloping across the basin as we all just took in the show. The Nevada desert is a magical place.
