Buckaroo Traditions – Cowboys and Horses on the Open Range
Fine Art Black and White Photography Print Capturing Cowboy Horsemanship and the Spirit of the American West
Spanish Ranch - Nevada
People like to talk about how “the west is dying”, and they’re not altogether wrong or right. The west is changing, but it isn’t dying. There are plenty of wild places left where buckaroos still value and carry on the traditions started 100+ years ago. The Spanish Ranch in Tuscarora, Nevada is one such place where time stands still. During branding season the entire cavvy is brought in to camp every afternoon and lined up on the ropes. The cow boss will then slowly and methodically catch horses for all of his cowboys to ride the following day. To witness such a thing in the middle of the Sage Brush Sea, hours from civilization, is a sight one can never forget.
