Fine Art Cowboy Print from the Historic 6666 Ranch

Photographed at the legendary 6666 Ranch in Texas, Cowpuncher focuses on the details of a working cowboy's gear. Worn leather chaps, boots, and a pair of custom-made spurs bearing the ranch's distinctive 6666 brand.

The spurs are a small but telling detail. They reflect the pride these cowboys take in the ranch they work for and the tradition they're part of. It's the kind of thing that might go unnoticed in a wider photograph, but says a great deal about the people who work there.

About the Collection

For more than six years, photographer Rob Hammer has traveled throughout the American West documenting the lives and traditions of working cowboys on some of the country's most historic ranches. His ongoing project, Calves to the Fire, is an intimate look at a culture that remains largely unseen by the outside world. The photographs are made during actual day to day ranch work instead of staged reproductions.

Work from the collection has been exhibited in fine art galleries and museums, featured on the set of the hit television shows Yellowstone and Dutton Ranch, licensed by iconic Western brands such as Wrangler and American Hat Co., and published in Western Horseman and Cowboys & Indians Magazine.
