When you’re years into a project photographing basketball courts all over the USA, it’s hard to imagine randomly walking into an Indiana gymnasium and seeing the American flag painted on the wall behind the hoop. This has to be a dream, right?, is all that kept going through my head. I could search for something like this the rest of my life and still come up empty.
